Don’t Buy Your Next HTiB Out of the Back of a Van

Sure, times are tough, but resorting to buying goods out of a shady-looking van is never a good idea, as one person recently found near Scranton. If a guy in a parking lot near Best Buy is offering a great deal on a home theater system, it’s probably stolen, fake or in this case, missing parts.
From The Times Tribune:
Not all theft means stolen purses or packages. Dickson City police are investigating a transient business report of a person who last week sold a home-theater surround-sound system for $300 out of the back of a van parked on Boulevard Avenue, Acting Chief Bilinski said.
When the buyer opened the box at home, the system had missing equipment and was useless.
It’s unlikely shady-van-guy has much of a return policy, so this Holiday season, play it straight or risk getting the short end of what’s probably a bad deal anyway.
