Sharp Announces AQUOS Blu-ray Home Theater Systems

Written on Jan 14, 2009 by Brian and filed under News, Sharp

Sharp has announced two AQUOS Blu-ray Home Theater Systems that feature 5.1 channel audio with 720 watts of total power. The Blu-ray players support BD-Live and both systems offer dedicated subwoofers.

The new home theater in a box systems join the line of AQUOS-branded products, including the extensive line of LCD TVs and, most recently, Blu-ray players. The new AQUOS BD-MPC40 and BD-MPC30 include the main unit, which houses a Blu-ray player (BD-Live capable) and amplifier, as well as five speakers and a subwoofer. The systems pack in 720W power.

A high-gloss piano-black finish on the main unit matches the styling of AQUOS TVs, accompanied by black wooden cabinet speakers with the BD-MPC40, and black synthetic finish speakers with the BD-MPC30, allowing for limitless design and décor options that complement any room of the home. The home theater systems incorporate Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio surround sound capabilities for a true theater sound experience. Additionally, the Blu-ray player features AQUOS Pure Mode, which automatically senses the aspect ratio of the Blu-ray title being played and optimizes the TV’s view mode for the best possible HD picture possible.

Pricing and availability of the systems has not yet been announced.

  1. This is the first Blue-Ray HT in box that I have heard of. Pretty cool. Does anyone know what inputs this thing can take though? Hopefully at least one optical and a few RCA’s

  2. Jeff, check out the HTIB systems that have been out for several months from Panasonic and Samsung. Sony now offers one too. I am holding off on my purchase until I see this Sharp and a JVC model currently being released in the UK.

  3. When will the new aquos (for the 65″ TV) 5.1 channel audio home theater system be out. I’m getting tired of waiting. It was to be out by the end of April.
