Sharp AQUOS BD-MPC40 and BD-MPC30 Main Unit Revealed

Written on Jan 30, 2009 by Brian and filed under News, Sharp

Sharp announced two soundbars and two Blu-ray home theater in a box systems at CES this year, but they didn’t have any pictures of the latter. We still don’t have the speaker styling shots, but at least we know what the main Blu-ray control unit looks like now.

Both the BD-MPC30 and BD-MPC40 will use this main control unit, the only difference in the two systems is the speaker package. While they’re both 5.1 surround sound with 720 watts of total power, the BD-MPC40 gets black wooden cabinet speakers and BD-MPC30 will offer black syntheticfinish speakers.

The systems will  incorporate Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio surround sound capabilities. The main unit receiver has an FM digital tuner, amplifier and Blu-ray player  for full high-definition1080p/24 Hz output. The Blu-ray player supports profile 2.0 (BD-Live) and AQUOS Pure Mode, which automatically senses the aspect ratio of the Blu-ray title being played and optimizes the TV’s view mode for the best picture. The main unit supports HDMI 1.3 digital output, but other ports and connections have not been announced yet.

The Sharp BD-MPC40 and BD-MPC30 will both be available this spring for $799.99 each.
