Onkyo has announced two new home theater in a box systems designed to give those on a tight budget good value for their dollar. While Onkyo systems don’t come with DVD players, they do tend to offer nice sound for the dollar. The HT-S5200 is a 1200W 7.1 system complete with 4 HDMI inputs, iPod connection and 290W subwoofer. The HT-3200 brings 660W in a 5.1 home theater system with 3 HDMI inputs and an 8″ subwoofer.

The HT-S5200 punches out 130 watts per channel to deliver 1200 total watts in a 7.1-channel home theater in a box system. For depth and nice low notes, Onkyo has included a 290W down-firing 10″ subwoofer. While there’s no DVD player, Onkyo does include plenty of inputs so you can add whatever you like. The HT-S5200 has 4 1080P compatible HDMI connections. The receiver unit incorporates Audyssey 2EQ room correction technology to automatically adjust the sound character and time delay of each speaker relative to the listening positions, Audyssey Dynamic Volume which maintains optimal listening levels and dynamic range and Audyssey Dynamic EQ that adjusts the loudness contour on the fly to optimize sound quality for any volume, particularly at low listening levels. The HT-S5200 also includes an iPod connector.

The Onkyo HT-S5200 will be available soon in both black and silver finishes for a retail price of $599.
