Fugliest TV Contest – Win a New Samsung LN40B530 40″ LCD

Written on Jun 10, 2009 by Brian and filed under News

Do you have a junky old TV set stashed in the basement, guest bedroom or the back of the garage? You know, one of those 500 pound 20″ tube TVs, preferably in an ancient wood cabinet with rabbit ears dangling off the side. If so, and it still works, you might consider entering this contest by sending in a photo of your TV. The grand prize is 40″ Samsung  LN40B530 LCD TV worth $1000.

To celebrate the June 12 analog to digital TV conversion, BestBuyPCS.com has announced a photo contest to find America’s Fugliest TV. Users with nasty old TVs that are still in working order can visit www.FuglyTVs.com to enter or rate the photos of others on a 1-10 scale, 10 being the fugliest.

The winner of the contest will be determined by online voters. As a point of reference, here’s the current leader in the clubhouse. Is your TV worse? Then go ahead and enter and encourage your friends to vote.

Incidentally, don’t just dump your old TVs into the garbage. There are ways to recycle them or dispose of them more cleanly. The EPA has a great resource page for handling the disposal of old electronics like these fugly TVs.

  1. Give me a hint how to wire my HP laptop with Samsung HDTV? I in need to link my notebook to my plazma HDTV (Samsung PN42A450) which has few HDMI Inputs. {What you can commend|What are my opportunities & what do I need to purchase to link my Sony to my plasma. Need to connect it to the HDTV so that the videos I usually find in a stream can be seen in my HDTV.
