Samsung has just announced a deal with YouTube to bring more Internet-based content to Samsung’s Blu-ray players which are sold independently and as part of their home theater in a box systems. This comes just two months after Samsung integrated with Blockbuster. Samsung has a bulk of the major players wrapped up now with YouTube, Blockbuster, Netflix and Pandora all on board.
Initially the new service will be available only on the Samsung BD-P1600, BD-P3600, and BD-P4600 Blu-ray players.
Samsung will push out an update to enable the YouTube service sometime in the fourth quarter of this year. They’ll have a demo of the technology available at the CEDIA show which starts next week in Atlanta.
