ViewSonic VOT530 and VOT550 Home Theater PCs Released

Written on Nov 19, 2009 by Brian and filed under News

ViewSonic is known more for their displays than anything else, but they’ve recently made a concerted effort in the home theater space. Earlier this month it was the VMP70 media streaming box and now ViewSonic has released a pair of home theater PCs dubbed PC Minis. The VOT530 and VOT550 feature Windows 7 Premium, Intel Core 2 Duo 2.2GHz processors, built-in WiFi and HDMI output.

ViewSonic certainly didn’t skimp on the rest of the spec sheet either. The VOT530 offers 2GB of memory and DVD muilti-drive. The VOT550 doubles the RAM to 4GB and offers the much-desired Blu-ray/recordable DVD combo drive. Both units also bring in six USB 2.0 ports, DVI-I,  eSATA, remote control, Ethernet jack, microphone and headphone jacks.

Both of the ViewSonic PC Minis are available now. The VOT530 retails for $749 and the VOT550 for $949. Given the entry points on competing HTPCs from Dell, HP and Lenovo, the prices aren’t that impressive, but we’ll have to get our hands on review complete to see if the premium ViewSonic charges is worthwhile.
