Polk Audio today announced two new additions to its SurroundBar integrated home theater speaker lineup, the SurroundBar 3000 and 6000SDA. The SurroundBars have a very shallow two-inch depth that compliments the design of flat-screen TVs.

The SurroundBars have two components – the integrated speaker bar and a matching wireless subwoofer. They connect to TVs using an optical audio connection.

Polk Audio SurroundBar 3000

The SurroundBar 6000SDA is a 35-inch long four-way system. It features Polk’s SDA surround processing for a larger soundfield. The wireless 7-inch subwoofer puts out 120 watts of power. The 6000SDA will be available in June 2010 for $499.

Polk, who seems to love making soundbars, has announced another one, the SoundBar SDA instant home theater solution. Polk’s soundbars are actually very nice, but still lack the bass that many consumers want. That is, until now. The SDA also includes a wireless subwoofer in addition to the four 3.5″ mids.

Setting up the SDA is as easy as connecting the appropriate cables to your TV. The system does the rest, including syncing the wireless transmitter with the 6.5″ subwoofer. The is the second soundbar with wireless subwoofer we’ve seen in the last few weeks. That’s certainly a good trend for people who want simple setup but don’t want to give up bass.

“The market has been calling for a solution as straightforward as this one,” says Mark Suskind, VP of Polk’s product line management. “Until now there have been too many compromises needed to get convincing home theater audio that’s also convenient for the consumer.”

The Polk SoundBar SDA is on display this week at CES and will start shipping in the next month at a projected retail of $499.

Polk announced the SoundBar 360 DVD Theater at CES earlier this year. While we like the simplicity and added sound a soundbar can make, it's a little difficult to get jazzed about this unit, with a price of $1100. For that kind of money you can buy a full-featured Blu-ray setup with 5 speakers and a floor thumping subwoofer.

Polk announced the SoundBar 360 DVD Theater at CES earlier this year. While we like the simplicity and added sound a soundbar can make, it’s a little difficult to get jazzed about this unit, with a price of $1100. For that kind of money you can buy a full-featured Blu-ray setup with 5 speakers and a floor thumping subwoofer.

To be fair, this is more than the basic soundbar, the Polk 360 features eight full range 2.5″ cone speakers with simulated surround sound. And it actually sounds pretty good and creates decent bass without a subwoofer. But there are no HDMI inputs, really limiting the 360′s flexibility.

Generally we like the design and 8 speaker integration, but the price point and lack of HDMI input really kill this unit. It’s really only a good fit for those who really need a soundbar and want the best audio quality possible out of such a unit.
