Onkyo has announced two new home theater in a box (HTiB) systems: the 7.1-channel HT-S5400 and the 5.1-channel HT-S3400. The receivers feature four HDMI inputs and one output plus support for 3D video.

VIZIO has announced the VSB210WS soundbar with wireless subwoofer. The VSB210WS features four 3” mid/bass drivers and a single 1″ tweeter for each channel. Toss in a wireless 6.5″ subwoofer and easy install and VIZIO might have something with this system.

Wireless speakers are showing up in several home theater systems. But thus far it’s generally just the two rear satellites in 5.1 or 7.1 systems that are set up to be wireless. At CES this coming January, Focus Enhancements will be showing of a new wireless multichannel audio technology that they claim will produce nearly identical sound to wired systems.

LG Announces New HTiB Systems

LG has announced several new home theater in a box systems for the Asian markets. The expectation though is that LG will soon update their US offerings, of which the most recent product (LG LHT888) was announced in January at CES. The new systems all offer 5.1 channel sound, with the high-end Scarlet HT953TV punching out 1,000 watts of sound and a 10.1 Virtual Sound Matrix function. None of the systems come with Blu-ray, but all offer a DVD player with 1080p upscaling and LG’s beautiful champagne flute speakers.
Polk Audio SoundBar 360 DVD Theater Now Shipping

Polk announced the SoundBar 360 DVD Theater at CES earlier this year. While we like the simplicity and added sound a soundbar can make, it’s a little difficult to get jazzed about this unit, with a price of $1100. For that kind of money you can buy a full-featured Blu-ray setup with 5 speakers and a floor thumping subwoofer.
Walmart Value Bundles Include Philips HTiB

Pioneer has announced the LX01BD home theater in a box system for the UK market. The LX01BD features 5.1 channel audio, Blu-ray profile 1.1, and a remote control with LCD touch screen. The high-gloss design is meant to complement their Kuro line of HDTVs.
