Onkyo has announced two new home theater in a box (HTiB) systems: the 7.1-channel HT-S5400 and the 5.1-channel HT-S3400. The receivers feature four HDMI inputs and one output plus support for 3D video.

Of their three home theater CES releases, Samsung is the least forthcoming about the HT-BD1250 Blu-ray HTiB system. It is a full 5.1 system though with Blu-ray, 1,000 watts of power and kelp speakers like the BD7200.

The movie theater system has died a few times due to Betamax, VHS, DVD and now Blu-ray. But really, as good as home theater systems are these days, they’re still not a replacement for movie theaters.
